Narrow one nil defeat for Rearcross 'B' in Ballinree

Rearcross 'B' travelled to Ballymackey for their first league game of the season . The game started brightly with Ballymackey getting a couple of half chances early on. Rearcross settled in to the game and produced the best chances with Oisin Kelly having his effort saved, Liam Kelly heading just wide and Aiden Bryan's effort cleared off the line. Rearcross were doing all the pressing but Ballymackey had their chances with the Rea keeper Brian Hammersley pulling off a couple of good saves to keep the sides nil all at half time.  The warm day led to tired bodies in the second half with both sides having fewer chances.  However 5 mins in Ballymackey were awarded a harsh penalty which Nathan Lynch scored, Brian Hammersley unlucky not to save after getting a hand to it. Both sides tried hard to get the next score but to no avail with Brian Hammersley again coming off his line to make a goal saving tackle. Mike O'Grady and Rob Harrington tried hard from set pieces to find the equaliser with Paul Carey having his effort saved by the Ballymackey keeper. A good display all round from the Rearcross team especially in the first half from midfielders  Oisin Kelly, Dave Brennan, Aidan Bryan and Gavin Denihan plus Brian Hammersley and Rob Harrington putting in two good shifts also.
