Killavilla ‘B’ hold the aces against Rearcross ‘B

Rearcross B played host to Killavilla B on Friday evening under lights in Rearcross. The away team started with intent getting in a shot on goal within the first minute. Killavilla took the lead in the 6th minute when Liam O'Reilly headed to the net. Rearcross responded when Kieran Devitt shot wide but Rearcross were then lucky to clear off their line from the resulting kick out. Killavilla then added a second from a well struck Jason Fitzpatrick free kick in the 20th minute. Rearcross now with work to do got a life line 2 minutes later when Oisin Kelly superbly struck a free kick to the net from outside the Killavilla box. Killavilla were awarded a penalty on the 35th minute but Jim Caplis made a great save and forced it out for a corner only for Killavilla's Dan Ryan to head home from the corner to make it 3-1. Rearcross had efforts from Colm Carey and Rob Harrington saved and went in at half time 2 down. Rearcross started brightly in the second half and Dave Brennan was unlucky not to pull one back for Rearcross as his shot hit the post. Killavilla were awarded a second penalty in the 65th minute and again Jim Caplis made a superb save in the Rearcross goal. Poor passing while clearing from the back Rearcross allowed Dan Ryan from Killavilla get his second to make it 4-1.  Rearcross kept battling and Paul Ryan put in a decent cross but Rob Harrington was stretching to make contact and headed wide. Paul Ryan went on to make a vital clearance in the Rearcross danger area to avert a potential goal scoring opportunity for Killavilla. Rearcross last effort was a Willie Mackey free which went over and it finished 4-1.
