Heavy defeat for Rearcross 'B'

Rearcross ‘B’ welcomed Moneygall ‘B’ to Rea on Sunday morning in what was a replay of last season’s Nora Kennedy Cup final. Moneygall got off to much the brighter start, opening the scoring inside the first minute when Thomas Sheedy was let through on goal far too easily to put the visitors 1-0 up. Although Rea didn’t let their heads drop as they went on to create multiple chances which were unlucky not to be converted. Moneygall added to their tally on the half hour mark when Anthony Devereux made no mistake as he finished from close range. The away side then went and furthered their lead within a matter of minutes when Tom Sheehy broke through one on one with Brian Hammersley and managed to find the net despite Gary Ryan’s best efforts to clear it off the line. However, Mikey Feehan did pull one back for the hosts just before half time with a tidy finish to bring some optimism back into the home side.
Rearcross started the second half strongly controlling possession early on and creating a few more dangerous chances. Unfortunately, from a Rearcross perspective, Moneygall were far from finished as Jack Lee regained their 3-goal cushion with a goal in the 60th minute. Mikey Feehan responded yet again for Rea just 2 minutes later to spur some bit of life back into the home side. In the wind up Moneygall proved to be too strong on the day adding a further 3 goals from, 2 from Jack Ryan and another from Tom Sheehy to run out convincing winners.
