Good workout in opening game of season for Rearcross 'B'

Newport hosted a mixture of Rearcross A & B's in a pre season friendly. It was a lively game with Rearcross scoring first. Colm Nolan put the ball across for Aidan Bryan to score from close range. Newport equalised 15 mins later with a great finish from 20 yards through Conor Brett. Newport took the lead with a Joe Shanahan goal just before halftime to make it 2-1 at the break. Newport were the much better side in the second half coming close on a few occasions and Brian Hammersley in the Rearcross goal pulling off some fine saves. Newport added 2 more goals, the first coming midway through the second half when David O'Brien hit the target. Rearcross pressed on a few occasions but the final pass was not accurate enough to set up a clear goal chance. Newport added a fourth through Jordan Clancy with a couple of minutes to go. It finished 4-1 to Newport.
