Rearcross ‘B’ claim maximum points with two late goals

Rearcross B welcomed Shinrone B to Rearcross FC Grounds on Wednesday evening for this Second Division league fixture. The home team claimed all 3 points on a 2-0 scoreline. The Rea boys started well and piled the pressure on the visitors from the start, which led to a number of corner and free kicks landing in the box but all failing to break the deadlock. Kieran Devitt’s half volley at the back post from a Gavin Denihan delivered free, rattling the cross bar on the 20-minute mark being the pick of the chances.
Both teams continued the second half pressing hard realising that this game could be decided by whoever could score first. The home teams back 4 and keeper Brian Hammersley dealt promptly with any loose balls that made their way into the Rearcross Box. Rearcross introduced fresh legs in the second half which helped to stretch Shinrone even further. The deadlock was broken on 81 minutes when a well-timed looping pass from Robbie Harrington found Michael Feehan in space in the box who made no mistake finishing the ball to the net. Two minutes later, M Feehan doubled his and his team’s advantage after good work from Aidan Bryan skipping past a number of defenders and releasing the ball to the on rushing Feehan who finished well past the Shinrone net minder.
A successful night on the pitch for Rearcross B and a fully deserved 3 points after a number of weeks idle due to recent poor weather conditions.
