Rearcross ‘B’ advance in Munster Junior Shield

Rearcross B played host to Shinrone B In this Munster Junior Shield fixture under lights on Friday evening. Shinrone were under strength starting with only nine players thus making Rearcross favourites. Rearcross having most of the possession came close to scoring in the 13th minute when Eamon Wade hit the crossbar from an Oisin Kelly corner. Rearcross took the lead in the 16th minute when Willie Mackey hit a bullet of a shot from 20 yards to the net giving the Shinrone keeper no chance. Rearcross created a good few chances with Gavin Denihan having a shot saved, heading over from a corner and striking one effort wide. Nigel Ryan did score for the home side but was ruled offside. Shinrone battled hard despite being down men and had a free struck over and another shot just wide. Nigel Ryan headed to the net just before the half time break to give the home side a 2 goal cushion despite playing way below par.
Rearcross started the second half on the front foot with Oisin Kelly and Nigel Ryan forcing the Shinrone keeper into making two super saves and he then saved a penalty from Oisin Kelly. Shinrone did have a couple of efforts on goal themselves but failed to find the net. The Congo Bar sponsored side added a third when Kieran Devitt scored from an Oisin Kelly corner. Liam Kelly added a fourth for Rearcross with a well taken goal and Nigel Ryan made it five nil soon after and that's how it finished. Anthony Ryan had his second win as he took over the managerial role in the absence of regular manager Paul Carey and hopefully the winning run will continue.
