Maximum points for Rearcross 'B' in home fixture

Rearcross welcomed a depleted Templetuohy side for their final home league fixture of the campaign. It was Rearcross who made the early running with chances falling to Paddy Ryan, Paul Carey and Rob Harrington but they could not convert. The best chance saw Paddy Ryan hit the crossbar from a header from a good cross from Oisin Kelly. Rea did manage to take the lead on the half hour mark when Paddy Ryan received the ball on the edge of the area and beat a couple of markers before unleashing a pile driver which hit the bar and bounced downwards inside the line in what was a fine strike. It was soon 2 nil after when a long free kick into the box from Paddy Ryan saw Rob Harrington beat the offside trap and his diving header gave the keeper no chance as it found the net. Just before the halftime break the game was killed off when Rob Harrington collected the ball from a Templetuohy kick out and he fed the ball to Colm Carey on the left whose pinpoint cross found Paul Carey at the back post for a tap in.
The 2nd half resumed and it was Rea who made it 4 nil soon after when Oisin Kelly got the ball on the right and his cross found Colm Carey at the back post whose low strike back across the keeper found the corner of the net. From here Rea were wasteful in front of goal with numerous chances to extend their lead spurned. Credit to Templetuohy and they were rewarded for their efforts when Eoin Stakelum was brought down for a penalty and he dusted himself off to convert it despite Brian Hammersley guessing the right way. Rea thought they had their 5th goal when Willie Horrigan charged down the defender to win ball and his 1st time strike found the top corner only for it to be ruled out for a hand ball.
