Exciting win for Rearcross U-12 Girls by the odd goal in three

Rearcross FC Girls U12's hosted our neighbours, Cappamore Celtic girls in Rearcross on Saturday evening and emerging victorious with an exciting 2-1 win. This was a very evenly contested game throughout, both sides had chances with Rearcross coming out the right side on a 2-1 scoreline. Lauren Hartnett made a couple of good saves in the Rearcross goals and showed her versatility, as did Kate Kennedy, Aoibheann Devitt, Zofia Kwiecinska and Zara Maher by later playing multiple positions out the field and between the posts. In the first half, the Rearcross rearguard of Zara Maher, Aoibheann Devitt and Kate Kennedy repelled Cappamore attacks and started many counter attacks in their own half, one of these leading to a goal for Rearcross with a right footed strike from Zofia Kwiecinska from the edge of the box. It was nip and tuck for rest of the first half with both teams having chances and Cappamore hit an equaliser just before half time.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Rearcross having chances through Kate Kennedy, Abbie Carroll and Aoibheann Devitt. Some of the younger girls were to the fore in the second half with Anna Kennedy, Ruth Johnstone and Lauren Ryan getting on plenty of ball and passing it around well. Chloe Quinlan and Saoirse Guidera were also prominent moving the ball quickly and too having shots on the Cappamore goal. Lauren Hartnett defended brilliantly throughout, Rearcross got the winner 5 minutes before the full time whistle through a well placed finish into the bottom left hand corner from Saoirse Guidera, who weaved her way into the box and finished expertly. Good win for Rearcross ladies who are improving all the time, each girl performed well and a special thanks to Daniel Egan who has given 10 coaching sessions to the girls which was facilitated by the FAI, through their Soccer sisters programme .
Thanks to Cappamore for a very evenly contested game and the friendly penalty shoot out competition at the end went down very well with all the girls.
