Strong displays from the Rea girls before losing to stronger Holycross

Rearcross were home to Holycross in the latest round of the U-13 league. Up against a very strong Holycross team. The youthful Rearcross team started well and had early opportunities from Kate Kennedy and Zofia Kwiecinska. With ten minutes to go in an evenly contested 1st half. Zofia Kwiecinska ran on to a defensive clearance from Aoibheann Devitt. Proceeded to round 3 Holycross defenders and finish spectacularly from outside the box putting the home team 1 nil up at half time. In the second half the much stronger Holycross team began to dominate the game but could not find an opener. With 15 mins left Holycross equalised with a well-deserved equaliser. The pressure was now on the Rearcross defence. Despite their resolute defending. Holycross grabbed two late goals with the final score being 3-1 to the away team. Despite the loss the Rea girls showed great valour in defeat and put in a great team performance. Most of the team are underage for the next two years and the future bodes well.
