Three late goals seal the points for Rearcross U-13 Boys
Rearcross were at home to Lough Derg in this floodlit league encounter on Tuesday evening. The home side started the quickest and a Jonathan Dawson strike in the 5th minute was just wide of the post. Ciaran McLoughlin also saw a strike go wide of the post in the 10th minute after been put through by Patrick Carr and then in the 16th minute, a free kick taken by Jonathan Dawson saw the ball go straight into the Lough Derg keepers' arms. A Conor Nolan strike went wide after a brilliant through ball by Jonathan Dawson on the 18-minute mark. Lough Derg's only strike on goal was a 25min free kick which Rearcross goalie Darragh Reynolds collected. Another free kick by Jonathan Dawson on 30 minutes saw the ball go over the cross bar to leave the sides scoreless at the halftime whistle.
Rearcross upped the tempo in the second half and 2 strikes on goal by Conor Nolan had the Lough Derg keeper busy. The Rearcross defence was immense throughout this encounter and held the Lough Derg front men to scraps. A well taken goal by Patrick Carr in the 54min after good work by Ciaran McLoughlin finally broke the deadlock to give Rea a deserved lead. It was two nil to the hosts on 57 minutes when Conor Nolan used his pace to full effect and left the Lough Derg rear guard chasing shadows, his strike was too high and well struck to give the Lough Derg custodian any chance of saving it. Rearcross emptied the bench during the second half and one of those subs Cathal Hickey scored the best goal of the evening on 60 minutes after receiving the ball on the left side before cutting in past two Lough Derg defenders and then beating the Lough Derg Keeper with a left footed strike to copper fasten the points for Rea.
