Great performance from Rearcross U-14 Girls to earn share of the spoils

Rearcross U14 Girls hosted Shinrone U-14 Girls in Rearcross on Saturday morning last (May 2nd) with a 10am kick-off. This game was played in dry sunny weather conditions, with the pitch in Rearcross in great condition. Both teams were missing a lot of their older players through injury and other sporting commitments that day, but it was the younger Rearcross contingent namely Ewa Kwiecinska, Sarah Caplis, Eve Richardson, Emma Nolan & Ellie O Gorman who battled bravely all day and who contributed hugely to a very open game, where both sides enjoyed periods of dominance, and Rearcross were in hard luck not to hold out for victory, when a last minute free kick by Shinrone was expertly diverted to the net, leaving the end result 3 all. Lauren Hartnett scored a great goal for Rearcross in the first half with a volley from just inside the box and Zofia Kwiecinska added 2 more to bring her tally for the season into high double digits. Kate Kennedy and Ruth Johnson were superb at the back, clearing their lines and counter attacking, with Anna Kennedy a willing runner all day and causing Shinrone plenty of problems at the back. Great team effort from Rearcross on the day to finish with a share of the spoils.
