Rearcross U-14 Boys play out exciting 2-2 draw against Arra Rovers

Rearcross U-14 Boys were at home to Arra Rovers on Mon evening and finished level on a two all scoreline after an enthralling affair. Rea made the first incision on five minutes with a Ciaran Canavan strike but the Arra keeper collected. Rearcross keeper Darragh Reynolds not to be outdone saved from a strike outside the box. Jack Nolan came close in the 18th minute with a free kick which was just wide of the post. Darragh Reynolds was in the action again 7 minutes later after darting off his line to deny the Arra Rovers front man. Rearcross hit the front on the half hour mark when quick thinking by Darragh Reynolds picked out his brother Oisin who played a smart ball over the Arra defence to Jonathan Dawson who delivered an inch perfect pass to Jack Nolan who let fly from outside the box giving the visiting custodian no chance.
Arra Rovers came out stronger in the second half and two saves by Darragh Reynolds kept the scoreline intact. Another clearance by Darragh Reynolds just outside his box thwarted a well worked move to deny the Portroe side, however Arra were dominant at this stage and crashed home a well taken goal from outside the box. Rearcross introduced Jack Hickey and Conor Nolan halfway through the second half and Conor Nolan made an immediate impact when his pass to his brother Jack forced a good a save out of the Arra keeper. Rea were enjoying a period of dominance and a Jonathan Dawson corner kick in the 50th minute whizzed past both keeper and incoming Rearcross players. Rearcross took back the lead when a Jack Nolan delivery from a free kick out on the right saw Seanie Quinlan volley the ball to the roof of the net to give Rea a 2-1 lead. The hosts were luckless to concede a late equalizer when a deflected shot saw the ball loop over Darragh Reynolds and in to the back of the net. Rearcross produced a storming finish and it was to take a trio of outstanding saves by the Arra Rovers shot stopper to deny the Slieve Felim side maximum points on this occasion.
