Comprehensive home win for Rearcross U-14 Boys

Rearcross U-14’s welcomed Knigh United to Rearcross FC Grounds on Saturday morning for this league encounter and eventually pulled away for a comprehensive victory in the second half. The home side were on the front foot early on and went close when a Jonathan Dawson effort was saved by Oisin O’Mahony in the Knigh Utd goal. Conor Nolan then threatened to open the scoring but the strike was just wide. The Rea boys continued to mount the pressure and weren’t far away with good efforts from Michael Collins and Patrick Carr. The deadlock was finally broken late in the half when a Jonathan Dawson free kick on the edge of the box, went all the way to the net. It might have been 2 nil to the hosts just before half time, however Oisin O’Mahony made a great save to deny Conor Nolan.
Rearcross as in previous games were fast out of the traps in the 2nd half and doubled their tally when Ciaran McLoughlin’s pass picked out Jonathan Dawson who bagged his second of the morning. The visiting custodian was having a fine outing and thwarted Jonathan Dawson with an expertly executed save. The Martin O’Toole Electrical sponsored side notched up their third goal when Jonathan Dawson’s corner kick was headed home by Stephen Ryan at the near post to bring his tally to an impressive five in the campaign to date. Rearcross utilized their bench and kept the pressure on the Puckane outfit before netting their fourth of the match following good work by Patrick Carr which saw Ciaran McLoughlin send a delightful through ball which split the Knight defence, Jonathan Dawson had read to perfection before dispatching past an advancing keeper. Jack Hickey copper fastened the win for Rea with a fine effort after connecting with a loose ball from a corner kick. Full credit to a Knigh side that kept battling against the odds as Oisin O’Mahony got just reward after coming out field in the second half to bag the only goal for the visiting side, but it was a case of too little too late on this occasion. Rearcross were full value for the win but will need to carry this momentum in to their next game.
