Away win for Rearcross U-15 Boys at Nenagh AFC Brickfields

Rearcross made the journey to Nenagh on a windy Saturday morning. Rearcross started the better of both teams with two early chances for both Jonathon Dawson and Conor Nolan but both chances just went to the wrong side of the post. Rearcross kept the pressure on and the next chance would fall to Ciaran Mcloughlin after great build up play from Patrick Carr and Conor Nolan, but somehow the ball stayed out of the net. Nenagh started to grow in to the game and had a chance at the edge of the box, but Darragh Reynolds was alive to make the save at the near post. The midfield for Rearcross were controlling the game throughout and this showed when Shane Lee and Patrick Carr showed great teamwork to work the ball up the field which resulted in a free kick outside the box. The resulting delivery from Jonathon Dawson was headed away by the Nenagh defender but the ball fell to Stephen Ryan at the edge of the box whose shot was just over. After all the Rearcross pressure in the first half they would have to wait until five minutes to go in the half to see the ball hit the net from the boot of Conor Nolan after a great ball by Shane Lee.
At the start of the second half Nenagh came out the stronger of the two sides but Rearcross defence held strong which saw great defending from Jack Hickey and James Castello in one-on-one situations. Rearcross would put a bit of daylight between the two teams when Johnathan Dawson whipped in the corner which saw Stephen Ryan jump highest and score the visitors second of the day. Nenagh never gave up and kept trying to create chances but the Rearcross defence were determined to keep a clean sheet for the day. Rearcross were threatening down the wing all day and this showed when Conor McInerney played a great ball down the line and Conor Nolan was faster to react to the ball which resulted in a penalty for the away side. Jonathon Dawson stepped up and side footed the ball into the bottom left corner. The away side got a few more chances from the boots of Ciaran McLoughlin, Stephen Ryan and Conor Nolan, but the Nenagh keeper was alive to save. The home side’s best chance of the half would come from a great free kick from their striker but the ball flew inches over the crossbar. Nenagh showed great heart to keep going until the final whistle as Rearcross ran out 3-0 winners on the day
