Rearcross U-15’s progress to Cup Semi-final with strong showing

Rearcross U-15 Boys played Borrisokane on Monday evening at home and it was the visitors who started brightly with Jack Slevin and John Quinn making early runs to stretch our defence. One of these runs saw John Quinn finish to the net to give the visitors the lead. This was a wake-up call for the home team as a Jack Nolan effort hit the side netting. A Jack Nolan free kick brought a fine save out of Alex Reid in the Borrisokane goals. Oisin Reynolds was in the thick of it when he saw his effort go wide from a Jonathan Dawson corner kick before making a fine block at the other end from a David Flannery effort on goal. Another Jack Nolan free kick was tipped over by the Borrisokane custodian. Rearcross finally got off the mark when a Jonathan Dawson corner kick wasn't dealt with by the Borrisokane defence and Liam Brett was quickest to reach the loose ball before finishing between the posts. Another Jonathan Dawson corner kick again caused mayhem in the Borrisokane box and this time it was Jack Nolan who reacted quickest to finish to the back of the net. The best move of the first half saw Jack and Conor Nolan link up with Conor playing a brilliant pass in behind for Jonathan Dawson to run on to. His effort rattled the post much to the relief of the Borrisokane goalkeeper to leave Rea 2-1 ahead at half time.
A much better second half start by the home team was needed as Jonathan Dawson nearly scored after outwitting the Borrisokane defence with some delightful skill, but his effort went wide. The visiting Premier league side did have their chances which brought the best out of Paddy Ryan in the Rearcross goals who saved well from two efforts from Jack Slevin. An effort from Savva Rashkevich was then saved by Paddy Ryan who fed the ball to Conor Carr in the middle of field who in turn played the ball to Conor Nolan who set Jack Nolan up for his second of the match to give Rea a 3-1 advantage. Oisin Reynolds saw another effort from a corner kick go over the bar. John Quinn had a headed effort saved by Paddy Ryan who drove the ball the length of the field for Jack Nolan to race on and dispatch past an on-rushing Alan Reid in the Borrisokane goals. Colm O'Meara made a brilliant off the line clearance to keep Borrisokane to a single goal. Sam Hackett saw his effort go wide after running on to a Oisin Reynolds free kick. Jack Nolan took his tally to 4 on the evening with a well taken finish to leave Rearcross 5-1 winners on the day and a semi-final pairing against Killavilla Utd 'A' in Roscrea
