Winning ways continue for Rearcross U-15 Boys

Rearcross U-15 Boys hosted Holycross FC in this league fixture played under lights on Friday evening. The Rea boys started the brightest and a move started by Jonathan Dawson, saw Liam Brett release Jack Nolan who let fly with a brilliant strike, but Roberto Ortega in the Holycross goal was equal to the effort with a fine save. The visiting custodian was in the action again minutes later with 2 more saves, firstly to deny Jonathan Dawson and then a great reflex block to thwart Sam Hackett. Rearcross were applying all the pressure and the breakthrough came when a Jonathan Dawson corner kick wasn’t dealt with by the Holycross rearguard before Colm O’Meara finished to the back of the net. The Glenbane side upped the ante after this and threatened with successive efforts, but Darragh Reynolds in the Rearcross goals reacted smartly to keep the scoreline intact. Rearcross pressed again and Jonathan Dawson saw his effort deflected wide and then Conor Carr’s strike was saved by the visiting shot stopper. Oisin Reynolds was in the action late in the half after combining with Jack Nolan, however Roberto Ortega quelled the opportunity.
Rearcross were on the front foot again in the second half applying all the early pressure as Jonathan Dawson saw his effort from the edge of the box go wide and then Ciaran Canavan’s well struck strike was on target but Roberto Ortega reacted superbly to save. The visiting keeper produced a man of the match performance and denied Jack Nolan’s two quick-fire efforts midway through the half. Rearcross kept going though and it was Jack Nolan who finally broke the Holycross keeper’s resolve with a fine strike, low and hard into the corner of the net to leave the home side 2 nil winners on the evening. The margin would surely have been greater but for the heroics of Roberto Ortega in the Holycross goal. The win makes it 3 from 3 and edges Rearcross back to the top of the table.
