Narrow loss for Rearcross Youths

Rearcross Youths were at home to league leaders Borrisokane in this Youths League fixture and were luckless to lose out in the final moments after a hotly contested encounter. The visitors went ahead with a Jack Slevin goal in the 6th minute. Rearcross grew in to the game after this and pegged it back level on 37 minutes when Arron Quinlan finished to the net following a well worked move with the assist coming from Patrick Ryan. A hectic finish to the half saw Savva Rashkevich edge the league pace setters back in front with an opportunist goal, but the lead was short-lived as Cathal Ryan equalized for Rearcross a minute later with a fine finish.
It was nip and tuck all through the second half with chances created at both ends with Seanie Quinlan excelling between the posts for Rea, however there was little he could do when a superb strike from Donal Cleary went all the way to the roof of the net with thirteen minutes remaining. Rearcross didn’t throw in the towel though and bagged a deserved equalizer in injury time when Luke Carroll scored from close range, however the goal was disallowed on this occasion to deny Rearcross a deserved result following a gallant display.
