Comprehensive away win for Rearcross U-13 Girls

Rearcross girls travelled to Shinrone on Saturday last April 5th for their final league game in the NTSFL for 24/25 season, with a 10am kick-off. This was a game the Rearcross girls dominated from the off, with fast attacking football and they peppered the Shinrone goals from the start. Kate Kennedy opened the scoring after 10 minutes and quickly grabbed her second minutes later after been released by Aoibheann Devitt’s with a long ball out from the back. The Rearcross girls were dominating possession and with our young side defending excellently, Zofia Kwiecinska picked up a ball on half way racing through the Shinrone defence and finishing to the net. Rearcross didn’t have things their own way in this game and Shinrone hit them on the break just before half time, cutting the deficit to 2, leaving the half time score 3-1 to Rearcross.
Rearcross made positional changes in the second half and introduced some of our younger players, Eve Richardson coming on in defence and Mary Hanly entering the fray upfront, both acquiring themselves admirably. As mentioned Shinrone were game opponents throughout, and with a very young side also, never threw in the towel in this game. Rearcross who were the physically stronger side upped the ante in this game in the second half and added 4 more goals, Zofia Kwiecinska and Kate Kennedy both finishing with hat tricks and Aoibheann Devitt also grabbing one, Shinrone deservedly also grabbed a goal and were denied more by the vigilant Rearcross keeper, Sarah Caplis, who had a great game between the posts. Rearcross ran out 7-2 victors on the day and at one point in the second half, 9 of our 11 players on the pitch can all claim to play at U13 level again next season.

A great season for this bunch of ladies, who remained unbeaten in league games all season and will challenge for honours in the future.
