The NTSFL u14 Boys Squad travelled to University Limerick to compete in the Interleague Final against neighbours South Tipperary. North Tipp started the game well and dominated the early proceedings with the midfield of Darragh Reynolds, Oscar O’Halloran and Darragh Greene picking up possession and feeding the dangerous wingers of Sam Keneally and Kyle O’Meara. Brendan Kinstlers showcased his strength, holding up play and linking well as North Tipp created chances but couldn’t find the opening goal. Substitutions made their way onto the field as the pressure increased with James Lobak and Martin McGreevey causing problems for the opposition with their pace and skill. At the back the defence remained solid, as they have been throughout the tournament with David McElligott and Jake Rivett locking down their wings and captain James Hynes and Dara Naughton proving their class and composure retaining possession and building attacks. The first half ended with both sides goaless, but North Tipp could take confidence from their performance. The second half brought a short spell of pressure but goalkeeper Aaron Owens was more than up for the task as he protected his clean sheet with both goalkeepers Aaron and Cian Mandrilla leading the team with presence and control throughout the tournament. North Tipp didn’t take long to regain control and push for a winner with Andi Durnescu taking control over the midfield battle. Conor Harrington led the line creating some chances for others along with an effort himself that could have found the net. In the end the pressure paid off with an exceptional corner whipped in from James Hynes which was headed home by Sam Kenneally to take the lead. North Tipp upped the pace of the game again and scored again with a quick corner from Jake Rivett into Darragh Reynolds who smashed a ball across the box for Brendan Kinstlers to tap home. The third came again through Brendan Kinstlers after a nice set up by Oscar O’Halloran, Brendan swivelled and curled the ball into the corner. The introduction of Callum Ahern Donnellan, Sean Hayes and Pearse Óg Everard throughout the flurry of goals were influential to North Tipps continued dominance in the latter stages of the game with Ryan Murphy keeping close control of South Tipps main attacking threat.
A great day for North Tipp and a fantastic way to wrap up the Interleague campaign with a great show of togetherness and drive. Also a mention to both u13 players, Andi Durnescu and Luke Ryan who have been great additions to the squad throughout the campaign. Finally also a mention to Daire McCole who was unavailable but provided several vital moments throughout the competition. Thanks to the coaches Adam Guilfoyle, Ciaran Scully and William Kennedy along with all the parents and supporters during the successful campaign.
Congratulations to Darragh Reynolds who was named SFAI Interleague Player of the Match producing an influential performance in helping NTSFL become Interleague Champions 2026.
