Well done to Conor Nolan & NTSFL U-13’s on 2-1 win over Clare
NTSFL U13 boys travelled to lees road today to take on Clare in their last game of the group stage knowing a win would secure a place in the All Ireland Quarter Final stage of the competition. We started very well and were so unlucky not to go ahead in the 6th minute of the game after Josh McEvoy struck a fantastic shot on the edge of the box just inches over the bar. To be fair to Clare they also had a a great chance moments later only to be denied by a fantastic tackle by Man of the Match Mikey Carr who himself was in super form the whole game. For periods of time both teams dominated but both Defences were just outstanding.
We finally got a great goal after some fantastic passes through the thirds and Harry Jones scored a screamer to put us 1 up on the 23rd minute, Clare bounced back and scored an equaliser moments later to make it 1 all at half time.
Both teams went looking for the winner and we were awarded a free kick with 9 minutes left on the clock and Harry Jones stepped up and buried it into the top of the net.
Clare came back pushing for the equaliser and were awarded a free kick in the last minute of the game on the edge of the box but Cathal Lillis stood tall and made a match of the day save that any premiership keeper would have been proud of, we went on for a further 4 minutes of injury time but it ended NTSFL 2 Clare 1.
We would like to mention the quality of refing from Ref Brian Murphy he was just fantastic encouraging both sets of players when someone made a good tackle or the keepers made a good save it was so nice to see. Best of luck to Clare
