Sporting Diversity – Diarmuid Sheehy
The Club has been fortunate to have so many talented players in our ranks over the years and none more so than Diarmuid Sheehy who has been a loyal and true stalwart of Rearcross FC through the years and also excelled in other Sports codes. The highlight of a long-playing career, saw Diarmuid captain Rearcross to a memorable Tipperary Cup win over Blackcastle in 2007 at Thurles Greyhound Stadium.
The Cappamore Club man emulated the achievements of his brother Liam (RIP) by wearing the Limerick jersey with distinction during a sterling football career, playing at U-21 level for two seasons and then progressing to senior ranks winning two McGrath Cup medals in a career spanning from 1998 to 2005. Diarmuid also played in three Munster Senior Football Finals against Kerry losing out following a replay in Killarney in the latter of the three encounters. Diarmuid was also selected on the 2001 Dublin Blue Stars team while playing with Lucan Sarsfields.
Diarmuid also excelled in Athletics winning a number of titles with Bilboa AC including National Titles in cross country running.
