In the semi-final of the local ladies soccer tournament on last Saturday evening St. Anne’s (Rearcross / Kilcommon / Newport) were beaten by Cappamore. Although beaten, Saint Anne’s put up a fine show and they were in hard luck to concede three goals in the opening ten minutes. The outstanding player for St. Anne’s was Ena Ryan, closely followed by Breda O’Toole, Bridget Ryan and Joey Jones, with a bit of training St Anne’s should be a force to be reckoned with this year. Cappamore now meet Toomevara in the final. St. Anne’s lines out as follows: Teresa Carroll (Kilcommon 1), Siobhan Ryan (Rearcross), Kathleen Quigley (Rearcross), Ena Ryan (Kilcommon), Joey Jones (Newport) , Bridget Ryan (Kilcommon), Bridget Kennedy (Rearcross), Chrissie Carroll (Kilcommon) Margaret Fahy (Rearcross), Breda O’Toole (Rearcross), Geraldine Jones(Newport).

Now that the Camogie Congress has lifted the Ban too, there should be even more interest in the ladies’ soccer tournament being sponsored by the Rearcross club and for which valuable prizes will be presented. Groups or clubs wishing to participate are requested to contact the club secretary, John Gleeson, at Rearcross 3, and he will do the rest. The game is becoming very popular in Rearcross and this week a standard size pitch will be available as some trees which were confining the pitch there are being moved away.

U-10 League
Rearcross U-10’s were beaten 3-1 by Nenagh last Saturday in the U-10 league. Rearcross playing against the wind in the first half were under pressure from the kick off, however some staunch defending kept the nil all scoreline intact at the half time whistle. Nenagh went a goal ahead early in the second half with a good strike from the right wing. Rearcross battled hard and were rewarded in the 8th minute when Michael O’Brien equalized with a great finish from outside the box. Nenagh went 2-1 ahead eleven minutes in to the second half with a well taken goal and sealed victory two minutes from time with a finish from close range.
Rearcross Panel: Simon Kennedy, Michael O’Brien, Dean Lenihan, Derek Nolan, Colin O’Doherty, Paul Hogan, Mark Hogan, Damien Nolan, Brian O’Sullivan, Jason O’Leary, Larry McLoughlin.
Finally, very well done to Rearcross ‘A’ on toppling Premier Division winners Killavilla United in the Tipperary Cup semi-final played in Rearcross earlier this morning after grinding out a narrow 2-1 win over the Roscrea side to set up a place in Final against Sallypark FC.
